Is This “Fake It Till You Make It”?As silly as this may sound, do people with high self-esteem fake it till they make it? What does that really mean? If I look at it from a positive perspective, I’d like to believe it’s not about pretending to be something you’re not, but about practicing who you want to become. It’s about envisioning yourself in the future and being aware of all the things you need to do everyday to achieve and become that future version of yourself; not to fool others, but to actually become that. Think about any skillful person; a musician, an entrepreneur, an athlete. There’s a 100% chance they were not born with those skills. The first time they picked up an instrument, started a business, or stepped onto a field, they were beginners. They might’ve envisioned themselves as champions or masters, but they didn’t just act the part; they worked towards it! The “fake it” part isn’t about lying to others. It’s about visualizing your future self and putting in the work needed until that vision becomes reality.
